The Loop - Science Village Hall
In the heart of the Science Village research cluster in Lund, a new meeting place has emerged – Science Village Hall in The Loop. Unlike many traditional concert halls with a focus on classical music and acoustic perfection, the requirement here was for a venue that could accommodate everything from scientific conferences to club concerts and symphony orchestras.
The project went to Audico, in close collaboration with Skanska. Together, we created a flexible event stage where the acoustics can be changed in real time. Using the Vivace system, over 90 individually controlled speakers and strategically placed microphones, the reverberation time can be adjusted from one second – perfect for lectures – to a full five seconds, as in a church.
A key part of the project was to ensure that the technology did not dominate the room. Speakers and installations were therefore integrated during the construction process and concealed behind wall panels and ceilings. The result is a hall where sound is amplified, enhanced and adapted – but the technology itself remains invisible.
For the artists, this means a unique closeness to the audience. The intimate feeling makes them feel like they are part of the concert, rather than separate from it. At the same time, organisers can switch between different types of events at the touch of a button.
Science Village Hall is more than a concert hall – it is a meeting place where academia, business and culture come together. Thanks to Audico's holistic approach, experience and technical expertise, Lund has gained an arena that is as much an investment in the culture of the future as it is in the development of science and business.
Solution
Audico carried out a total contract for the AV installation, which included design, project management, installation, commissioning and programming of sound, lighting and image equipment, as well as infrastructure and control systems for stage areas and associated areas. The project was completed in 2025 and is an excellent example of how Audico collaborates with property developers and end users to create technically advanced and functional environments.
Product specification
The contract included the VIVACE system from Müller BBM. L'acoustic was installed as the PA system for the various stages, together with speakers from Fohhn. The lighting equipment consisted of fixtures from ETC. The imaging equipment included projectors from Epson and screens from Screen Line. The control systems were installed using Crestron.
