Coop Norrbotten Arena
Audico (time. Bright Installation AB) carried out an extensive installation in Coop Norrbotten Arena with the aim of creating a live experience beyond the ordinary.
Coop Norrbotten Arena, or Coop Arena as it is also known, is a sports and events arena in Skutviken outside Luleå. As the home arena of Luleå HF, they wanted to improve the hockey experience for their visitors and entered into a partnership with Audico, then Bright Installation AB, to install new experience technology in the arena.
Together with Dial-IT and Bright Group Finland, Audico had four months to complete an all-inclusive contract that included the installation of new Philips arena lighting, a new NEXO loudspeaker system, BARCO projectors for ice projection and BlackTrax for positioning projection, and an LED oval above the ice.
The investment was carried out with the aim of optimising the live experience in the arena, primarily during Luleå Hockeyförening's games in both the SHL and SDHL. By creating an enhanced experience where light and images are projected onto the ice and LED screens, and with an improved sound system that provides clearer information, the sense of presence for the audience is greatly strengthened.
"The joy of being involved from start to finish in an affair of this size is overwhelming. What started with flipchart sketches from a meeting in a hockey arena turned into reality and produced a result that set a new level for Swedish hockey arenas," says Tomas Blomén, Sales Manager at Audico.
One of a kind
A similar installation has never been seen before in the Nordic hockey context and the response the installation has received over the years is international.
In November 2018, the installation took home first prize at the Daily DOOH Gala Awards London in the "Best Building Install" category - the first of three awards.
During the 2019 ISE fair in Amsterdam, the installation again took home a first prize - this time at the 2019 InAVation Awards in the "Leisure & Entertainment" category.
Two months later, it was off to the ProLight fair in Frankfurt where the installation took home its third award; first prize at the Mondo*Dr awards in the "Best Arena" category.
