Network specialist

We are looking for a network specialist with a strong IT background who wants to take that expertise into an environment where local area network design has an immediate and visible impact. We deliver networks along with their maintenance and consulting to demanding performance and AV technology sites across Finland. The emphasis in our systems is on the local area network and switches, not on carrier grade routing. In our networks, audio, video, lighting and control systems all run on the same infrastructure.

What you will do

As a network specialist at Audico you are involved throughout the whole lifecycle of our projects, supporting sales, specifying and configuring networks and handling commissioning and maintenance. You design and document network solutions for AV and performance technology sites, including VLAN and IP plans and switch topologies as well as traffic dimensioning and segmentation. You act as the counterpart to the customer's IT organisation, going through the network requirements, justifying them and, where necessary, fitting the solution to the customer's existing environment. You also investigate fault situations and take part in maintenance in support of Audico's service technicians and our other specialists, and you actively help develop our operations and our practices.

What we expect from you

  • Several years of experience of enterprise class local area networks, covering design, configuration, commissioning and maintenance.
  • Strong switching expertise: VLAN design and segmentation, trunks, link aggregation, port profiles and PoE budgeting. Multicast management, QoS and PTP / clocking.
  • Experience of one or more switching platforms. We typically work with HPE Aruba, Cisco and Netgear switches, but where necessary we also work with other technology solutions required by the customer. What matters is understanding, not knowing a particular product range by heart.
  • Documentation skills and the willingness to use them: IP and VLAN plans, topology diagrams and configuration descriptions.
  • Readiness to work at the customer interface and to talk with the customer's IT people and users in a way that lets both sides understand each other.
  • Readiness to travel to customer sites in Finland.

How does this job differ from ordinary IT?

  • This is not maintaining a single environment. The sites change, and each one has a different customer, different requirements and often different hardware.
  • This is not repeating one manufacturer's standard solution. We work with the hardware that best suits the customer's needs at the time.
  • Network problems often do not show up in a ticket queue but in front of an audience, and the window for fixing them is often short.

If the above sounds more interesting than heavy going, you are probably the right person.

What we offer you

At Audico Systems we deliver demanding audiovisual solutions and services and supply high quality performance, lighting, sound, mechanics and AV products.

We offer you:

  • Interesting, high quality projects to work on
  • A permanent, responsible and varied job in a leading company in the field
  • A role in which you get to develop network design practices rather than simply carry out ready made ones
  • The opportunity to develop your own skills and to train for industry certifications
  • The support of an experienced team as well as effective systems and tools
  • A competitive salary, benefits and a pleasant working community
